Who I Am
My Name is Bob Peters and I enjoyed a 36-year career in Commercial Banking having helped small, medium, large, private and public companies access capital to help their business grow.
I have served as the Washington State President and Regional Head of Commercial Banking at Bank of America and led the Commercial Banking Business at WaFd Bank, the largest bank headquartered in Washington State.
I have long had a passion for the importance of financial literacy and have volunteered for a number of nonprofit organizations that help deliver financial literacy curriculum to young people.
I truly believe that most people have the potential to live a financially secure life if they embrace the importance of education and self- discipline.
I also believe that you can achieve financial security without becoming a financial analyst steeped in the field of study in Accounting and Finance, although I would never discourage anyone from gaining knowledge in these areas.
I dedicate this blog to my Dad, my kids, nephews, nieces and cousins.
My Dad is a man of great integrity and who has a steadfast moral compass. If I can convey the knowledge in the spirit of educating people with nothing more than what, in my opinion, is in their best interest, I will have represented my father well. If young people can be more confident and financially secure then “mission accomplished”.
My Mission
The idea of starting this blog was first and foremost to put down, in writing, my thoughts and opinions on topics that I wanted to pass along to my kids and younger members of my extended family.
Knowing that these topics are not typically the most exciting, rather than the periodic “Dad” talk/text/email, I thought it might be better to put these thoughts in one place where they could, at their leisure, read them.
My north star is to put down what I believe to be accurate. I have no motive other than the hope that the information proves helpful.
The long-term well-being of individuals and our society at large depends on closing the wealth gap in our country.
By empowering young people with knowledge early in their lives, we can make a positive contribution to individuals, their families and society.
